Registration
Advisory note for citizens of Tajikistan residing in Japan:
According to the article 29 of the Law of Tajikistan "On Citizenship of the
Republic of Tajikistan", if a person residing abroad does not have a consular
registration within five years, unless there is a valid excuse, his/her rights to citizenship can be lost.
Each citizen must be registered at a consular section of
embassies of the Republic of Tajikistan abroad after 30 days of his/her arrival to a country.
Registration at Embassy is free of charge.
Passport services
- In order to extend the validity of a passport
the following documents should be submitted:
- Passport (both original and copy)
- Letter of request
- Duly filled and signed application form (in Tajik

or in Russian
)
- Two photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of document of residence (visa, alien registration card, etc)
- Prepaid return envelope.
The Embassy of Tajikistan is not able
to replace passports that have been lost, stolen, or mutilated. The Embassy can accept passport
applications and forward them to the Ministry of foreign affairs of Tajikistan for the process.
The passports will be issued in Tajikistan and sent back to the Embassy in Japan.
- In order to forward passport applications to
Tajikistan the following documents should be submitted:
- Tajik National Passport (both original and copy)
- Letter of request
- Duly filled and signed application form (in Tajik

or in Russian
)
- Four passport photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of document of residence (visa, alien registration card, etc)
- Money order payable to the Embassy of Tajikistan for 15000¥. Cash is not accepted.
- Prepaid return envelope.
For lost or stolen passports
If you lose a passport while in Japan, you must do the following:
- Report you passport lost or stolen to the Police. You need a Police Report
to carry with you until you receive a certificate from the Embassy of Tajikistan.
- Report the loss to the Embassy of Republic of Tajikistan in Japan.
Rules of issue of Certificate for returning to the Republic of Tajikistan
The certificate on returning to the Republic of Tajikistan is issued by the
diplomatic representations and consular offices of the Republic of Tajikistan to the citizens of Tajikistan, who are returning
to the Republic of Tajikistan, if such citizens have no the foreign passports of the Republic of Tajikistan or in a case if they
have lost their passports abroad. The certificate on returning to the Republic of Tajikistan is issued for the term of necessary
for entry the Republic of Tajikistan, but not more than six months.
The applicants should submit the following:
- Copy of National Passport
- Letter of request
- Duly filled and signed application form (in Tajik

or in Russian
)
- Two passport photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of document of residence (visa, alien registration card, etc)
- Police Record
- Receipt of transferring amount to Embassy`s bank account.
